Khagrachhari: Richhang Jhorna (waterfall)

Richhang...its a name of a beautiful waterfall in Bangladesh situated at Matiranga Upazilla in Khagrachhari district. Although from the remote past this waterfall had meet the thirst of travel the district administration take the site in concern from 2003. From Richhang bus stop beside the Dhaka-Khagrachhari highway the waterfall is 2 km away. The road is made up of brick and there is no single transport facility, so everyone have to pass it on foot.
Govt. information says that the fall is about 30 meter in hight. There is a slope naturally made up of stone in which people used to slide down into the standing water. But this may cause injury. The surrounding hill side area is awesome. It's a nice place for photography also.
Richhang shows its full beauty in rainy season.

How to go?
From Dhaka there are 4 direct coach services named Saudia, S.Alam, Shanti and Dolphine. But personally I suggest to go with Saudia or S.Alam.
Ticket cost 300 tk/person
Night journey is available from Dhaka
From Khagrachhari the last bus is at 2:30 pm. Anyone can book a ticket from Alutila or Richhang through phone.

Khagrachhari: alutila

Alutila: I am a member of Vromon Bangladesh. A few days ago 3 of our members used to visit the Alutila Guha and Richhang Jhorna in the district of Khagrachhari. Alutila Guha is a natural cave in the hill of alutila in khagrachhari shadar. but the khagrachhari town is 8 km away from alutila parjatan spot. We reached at 0815 hour in Alutila parjatan spot gate and finished our breakfast in local tea stall in front of the gate. then we entered after taking ticket. the ticket cost 5 tk per head. two big tree welcome us at the gate. the hill was waiting for us with a fascinating view of the town. (ooohhh, i forget to tell that most part of the town can be seen from the alutila gate.) All the white clouds were concentrated over the town, the hills were trying to raise their head from the cloud cover and the sun was emitting reddish light over the cloud--that was an unbelievable scene and I didn't have seen the nature like that condition before. Then we started to go to the mysterious cave which was 100 meters long and there was a flow of hilly water which made the stone made(natural) floor slippery. That slippery stone floor and the total darkness of the cave can cause injury anytime. There were also home of some night bird species, on the way whose sudden come out may cause a missing of a heart beat. The cave was only 5 feet high on an average, so most of the visitors are bound to pass the cave by getting their head down.

Madhabkunda Waterfall

The only waterfall of Bangladesh is Madhabkunda Waterfall. It is at Baralekha upazila in the district of Moulovibazar. Geologically, this waterfall is in the Patharia Structure and is composed of the rocks of the Bhuban Formation.

It is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division. You can go to Madhabkunda either from Sylhet if you go by road or from Kulaura if you go by train. From Kulaura rail station its about one hour journey by microbus to Madhabkunda. The journey to Madhabkunda itself is exotic. On the way you can see the greenish beauty of tea garden, the hills and the zigzag road through the hills will increase the joy of your journey. In Madhabkunda you will see the great waterfall – falls of million tons of water form 200ft. height. Big bolder of stones and the black stones in giving a shape of care in Madhabkundu. There is a Parjatan Motel with a good restaurant for accommodation and fooding. There is also a district council Bunglow for night stay. Here you can enjoy adventurous feelings to stay in a jungle. All you need to have a prior booking for the bunglow from Moulvibazar Zilla Parishad office.
